Official Spanish Language Diploma
The Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) are official Spanish-language qualifications awarded by Instituto Cervantes on behalf of Spain’s Ministry of Education. The adult exams cover CEFR levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. The diploma is internationally recognised and has indefinite validity.

Choose the level you need
DELE is a level-based exam. You register for a selected CEFR level from A1 to C2, rather than taking a multilevel assessment. A successful result awards the diploma for that level.

Validity & requirements
The DELE diploma has indefinite validity. Before registering, confirm the level and any additional requirements with the university, employer or procedure that will receive it. International recognition does not mean every diploma level meets every requirement.
DELE A2 or higher and CCSE may be relevant for a Spanish nationality application, depending on the candidate’s circumstances and exemptions. Check the official requirements for your situation; this page does not determine eligibility.
