The qualification
Spanish Constitution, Culture & Society
The CCSE (Conocimientos constitucionales y socioculturales de España) test is produced by Instituto Cervantes. It assesses knowledge of Spain’s Constitution and the country’s social and cultural reality. In applicable cases, it forms part of the process for obtaining Spanish nationality.

Understand the result
Knowledge of Spain, not a language level
CCSE gives a pass/fail result for constitutional and sociocultural knowledge. It is not a Spanish-language-level exam and does not award a CEFR language qualification.

Exam format
The official test contains 25 questions across five tasks and lasts 45 minutes. Preparation follows the official content areas and question formats, using the appropriate Instituto Cervantes preparation material for the test year.
Validity & requirements
The CCSE certificate is valid for four years. A pass does not by itself establish eligibility for Spanish nationality. Requirements and exemptions depend on the candidate’s circumstances; consult the official guidance for your situation.
DELE A2 or higher may also be relevant when Spanish-language certification is required for a nationality application. CCSE and DELE serve different purposes; exemptions and individual requirements must be checked separately.
