
GRE General Test – Graduate Admissions
What is it?
The GRE General Test is a standardized exam administered by ETS and is widely accepted for admission to graduate and business school programs around the world. It evaluates verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills that are not related to any specific field of study.

Test Format & Structure
The GRE General Test is approximately 1 hour and 58 minutes long and consists of three main sections:
Verbal Reasoning

Measures your ability to analyze and evaluate written material.

Includes reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence questions.
Quantitative Reasoning

Tests basic math skills, understanding of elementary mathematical concepts, and quantitative reasoning.

Covers arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
Analytical Writing

Measures critical thinking and analytical writing skills.

Includes two separately timed tasks: Analyze an Issue and Analyze an Argument.

Create an ETS Account: Go to https://www.ets.org/mygre

Choose Test Option: Select whether to test at home or at a test center.

Pick a Date and Time: Tests are offered year-round.

Pay and Confirm: Complete payment and receive your confirmation.
Note: Make sure your name matches your ID exactly.

Score Reporting & Validity

Scores are available in your ETS account 8–10 days after your test date.

Valid for 5 years from the test date.

You can send scores to up to 4 institutions for free on test day.

Use the ScoreSelect option to decide which test scores to send.
